ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — Earlier today Mayor Robert Palmieri announced his proposal to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development about rent relief for Utica residents. The plan includes helping people who have been financially burdened by the pandemic and securing funding to aid for those affected through the cares act.
“We’re very fortunate that we ‘ve got our representatives from the federal government that have fought for the relief and that we’ve instituted it. Again, Brian Thomas and our HUD officials putting a plan together. Hopefully, they’re going to endorse the plan an then we’ll have the relief for the renters and for the landlords.” – Mayor Robert Palmieri (D)-Utica
The city’s plan for the Emergency Solutions Grant funds was submitted to HUD earlier this week. If HUD approves the plan then the city can immediately begin distributing funds to residents in need.
