Utica woman assaulted with baseball bat during dispute

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The Utica Police Department is reporting that a Camden woman has been arrested for assaulting another woman with a bat during a verbal dispute gone wrong.

On Thursday September 9th, an Officer with Utica’s Criminal Investigations Division was dispatched to the 1800 block of Blandina Street to arrest 33-year-old Ashely Balandis of Camden NY after receiving a call from another woman claiming to be the victim of an assault.

The incident originally occurred back on the 25th of August when Balandis and the female victim were engaged in what was initially only a verbal dispute. During the argument, things eventually took a violent turn and Balandis allegedly picked up a silver baseball bat and began repeatedly hitting the female victims’ legs with it. Fortunately, the victim was able to flee the scene without suffering any major injuries and then called authorities.

Ashley Balandis was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Attempted Assault 2 in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
