UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Utica Police arrested a teenager on the evening of Friday, August 11 after an investigation into shots fired on Lenox Avenue.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Lenox Avenue at approximately 7:00 PM on Friday regarding a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located several spent shell casings. Further investigation revealed that two male suspects were witnessed allegedly running from the scene.
The investigation determined that the two suspects had allegedly fled to a location on City Street and that a weapon involved in the investigation could be inside. After permission was granted, a search of the residence located a loaded .32 caliber handgun inside.
One of the suspected shooters — a 17-year-old male — then claimed possession of the gun. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Utica Police Department.
The male — whose name will not be released due to his age — was charged by the Juvenile Aid Unit with second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, both violent felonies.
