UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Utica Police are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a shooting in the city on Saturday.
Police were called to the 1300 block of Oneida Street on Saturday, November 18 regarding a shots-fired investigation. Upon the arrival, officers say they located several spent shell casings around the area. Further investigation in the area, officers also learned that a vehicle that had fled the scene was located nearby.
A short time later, officers say they were notified that a male had walked into Wynn Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. Further investigation revealed that the male was seated in the vehicle police located. When the vehicle was shot at on Oneida Street, the passenger and driver fled the area, and the victim obtained a separate ride to the hospital.
The investigation has been assigned to the Utica Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit. Police are also asking that if anyone has any information regarding the incident, they are encouraged to contact the department at 315-223-3556.
