Utica man charged with sexually abusing two children

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a man in Utica has been arrested for sexual contact with two underage children.

On August 30, 2021, the Child Advocacy Center began their investigation after being notified that two children had possibly been sexually abused. It was soon learned that 27-year-old Elmer Figueroa of Utica had been abusing the children from the year 2017 to 2019. On September 2, investigators from the OCSO and the CAC located Figueroa at his home in Utica and took him into custody without incident.

Elmer Figueroa was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and charged with the following:

  • Two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Class D Felonies)

Figueroa was arraigned at the Central Arraignment Court and held on $20,000 cash bail.

An ‘Order of Protection’ has been issued for the two victims and counseling and other services are available through the Child Advocacy Center.
