UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Utica Police have arrested a man on weapons charges after a citizen stop found a loaded handgun.
Investigators with the GIVE Unit of the Utica Police were conducting investigations into recent shootings, when they witnessed several people walking in the roadway of Mohawk Street near Elizabeth Street. After an interview, one of the parties, 25-year-old Omar Jadama, began to act suspiciously. A search of Jadama found a loaded handgun on his person.
The handgun was taken into police custody and Jadama was arrested.
Jadama is currently charged with second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, both felonies.
