UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, a Utica man has been arrested on sexual abuse charges on Friday, November 10 after a report that he assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
According to sheriffs, the Oneida County 911 Center received a call at approximately 11:20 am from a 15-year-old girl to report that she had been sexually assaulted. After an initial investigation by Utica Police, the report was turned over to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
After further investigation by the Child Advocacy Center, it was learned that the suspect — 38-year-old Raynaldo Ramos, Jr. of Utica — had allegedly provided the girl with marijuana earlier in the day. According to investigators, he then allegedly subjected her to sexual contact.
Ramos was located in the City of Utica in the evening hours on Friday, November 10. He was subsequently arrested and charged with:
- One count of third-degree Sexual Abuse, a Class B misdemeanor, and
- two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Ramos was arraigned in Oneida County CAP Court on Friday and released on his own recognizance.
An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim, and services have been offered to her by the Child Advocacy Center.
