UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man was arrested after attempting to steal some things from a residence in the city.
Utica Police were called to the 1000 block of Churchill Avenue at approximately 5:15 PM on Tuesday, November 14. Upon their arrival, they spoke with the victim, who stated that he had recently left the residence with his friend. When the victim realized they had forgotten something, they returned to the residence.
When the victim and his friend entered the home, they noticed the tenant that lived upstairs was going through the victim’s property. They also noticed that the suspect — 60-year-old Kevin Karas of Utica — had some money that belonged to the victim in his hands. Karas was then told to leave the premises and the police were called.
Police then made contact with Karas and took him into custody without issue and subsequently transported him to the Utica Police Department. Karas is being charged with:
- second-degree Burglary, a Class C Violent Felony, and
- Petit Larceny, a Class A misdemeanor.
