On January 20th, 2021 at approximately 9:30PM Utica Police units responded to a menacing complaint of a man with a handgun near Mary St and Bacon St. It was reported that the driver of a red sedan had pointed a handgun at another individual during a dispute. A BOLO description was given out for the suspect vehicle and the driver.
A vehicle matching the description was located on Jefferson Ave near Bleecker St and a stop was conducted by members of the The GIVE Unit and the Patrol Division. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers quickly observed a handgun on the rear seat of the vehicle and both occupants were taken into custody without incident.
While at the station, a quantity of suspected crack cocaine was located on Freeman as well.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Donald Freeman age 37 of Utica, was ultimately charged with:
-Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd
-Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (previous conviction)
-Criminal Possession of a Firearm
-Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd
-Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th
