Utica man arrested after brandishing a gun during a domestic dispute

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Utica Police Department is reporting that a man has been arrested after being involved in a domestic dispute while brandishing a gun.

Around 11:00pm on Thursday August 19th, Patrol units were dispatched to the 1600 block of Taylor Ave in Utica.

When Officers arrived on the scene, they learned that a domestic dispute had just occurred and that a male who was a male involved was threatening to use a gun.

As the investigation continued, police located a satchel style bag that they had reason to believe belonged to the male suspect involved in the incident.  After searching the contents of the bag, they found that it contained a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and an undisclosed amount of narcotics.

As the investigation on the ground ended, 39-year-old Brodice Lawson of Utica was detained and brought to the Utica Police Department where he was interrogated further.

Lawson has been charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree
