Each year there are changes and updates to our tax laws. Utica College held a ‘Tax Practitioner Institute’ this morning to teach area accountants and tax preparers about these updates. The state’s Department of Taxation and Finances led the workshop, presenting attendees with various situations and scenarios tax-payers could face this year. Some accountants say workshops like these keep them informed and able to educate their co-workers.
“Everyone needs to stay abreast as much as they can to the tax laws as far as just how it effects them. I find with more people coming of age to retire, there’s a whole gamete of educating and preparing those people,” says Shirley Kessler, tax preparer.
Accountants who attended the workshop also received three CPE credits.
