UTICA, New York (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV)– As the school year is winding down, students tend to run out of meals. Utica College community members are donating their meals and Sodexo Dining Services is matching every single one.
“Students, faculty and staff have all come in and donated their meals, Sodexo has then matched that meal so that you know, we now have two meals to give to someone in need. The goal is to try to give them meals during finals week so that they don’t have to worry about eating and they concentrate their time on their studies instead.” — Damian Boehlert, Sodexo Dining Manager at Utica College
Almost 1000 meals have been donated. The value of the donations is $3,920. After Sodexo matches that, almost $8,000.
“Students, particularly like our commuter students, students who are living off campus if they have a meal plan and their out of meals just take that stress away. It is so important that they eat right so that they’re healthy for their exams.”— Blaise Faggiano, Head Football Coach, Utica College
