Members of the Utica Art Association showcased their recent works at the campus of SUNY Poly earlier today.
Eyewitness News Reporter Nicole Todd was at the official opening and has more. Nicole?
Opening its doors this evening, artists could bring up to two pieces of work with them to be put on display. With a variety of types of art, artists showed off their talents.
“Well it’s always a good way to display our artwork. We all paint, it’s a nice time for us to share each other’s work to get some tips and hints on what other people are painting and how they are painting. And it’s been judged so we always want to know what other people think of them.”
The exhibit has around 40 pieces. Each artist with their own taste. Polly, a merit winner paints historical landscapes and was pleased with the attendance this evening.
“I think it turned out to be a great show. It was very nicely hung by the committee and we had a very talented knowing which picture to put to which one. And I think we did a great job.”
And for those who aren’t so “artsy”, like me, the association welcomes new members at all levels.
“You can be a beginner, yeah that’s great. You would learn a lot because there are questions you could ask, there’s critiques that are done and then you’ll see demos of others peoples works and talents and that will help you.”
