Stae Police have identified the man who passed away at the scene of the large barn fire in Trenton Wednesday afternoon. Troopers report that Henry Synakowski, 93 years old, collapsed at the scene of the farm fire on Route 365 in Trenton Wednesday afternoon. Attempts were made by fire fighters and EMT to revive Synakowski, but were unsucessful.
The high winds that whipped across the region Wednesday served as a catalyst, spreading a fire in the shop area of a barn in Trenton to the residence on that farm. The winds blew flames and embers around the area, igniting a third structure and a field near by. Multiple structures, a grass fire and the windy conditions created great challenges for the almost a dozen local fire companies that were either called to the scene or placed on stand by to provide coverage for the area.
A post on Facebook from one of the residents at the farm indicated that 44 cows were saved from the barn that burned down. However, the farmer, Bernie Synakowski, noted that all of the hay and silage used to feed the herd had been lost. Synakowski made an appeal to area farmers for assistance with donations.
A GoFundMe page was also established to help the family that lost their home. This is the link to that page: https://www.gofundme.com/synakowski-fire?fbclid=IwAR1t0E1BJ5OMsIi1JD1LL9gUFHGaNpqmjWdBFbHCIfSOa7uKpkXzemz0hdc
