The Wayne County Sheriff has issued an Amber Alert for Central New York, including Oneida and Madison Counties. Deputies tell Eyewitness News sister station WROC in Rochester that they believe Owen is dead, but they put out the Amber Alert as a “hail Mary” attempt to find the child. The child abduction occurred on Joy Road in Sodus, NY about 9:48AM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

The child is Owen Hidalgo-Calderon, Hispanic Male, 1 year and 2 months old. The baby has short brown hair and brown eyes, about 2 feet long and about 30 pounds. The baby needs asthma medication.

The mother of Owen, Selena Hidaldo-Calderon, 18, was found dead behind a home, buried in an orchard, on Joy Road, Sodus, Thursday morning. Her boyfriend, Alberto Ebarado Gutierrez-Reyes, was seen on trail cameras walking in and out of the orchard with a shovel in his hands. So far, he has only been charged with tampering with evidence. Sheriff Deputies say that Gutierrez-Reyes admitted to burying Hidalgo-Calderon, but said he did not kill her.
