UPDATE: Suspect arrested for June 4th shooting in Utica


UPDATE JUNE 28th UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — The Utica Police Department is reporting that a suspect has been arrested for the shooting that took place on Neilason Street on June 4th.

On June 27th, The Utica Crime Prevention Unit arrested Tytique Linder, 21-years-old from Utica at an establishment on Varick Street. The suspect was seen entering the building by police officers who then set up a perimeter and called for additional support.

When the suspect was taken into custody, officers noticed that he had changed his shirt in an attempt to evade arrest. Officers eventually found the suspects shirt in a nearby garbage can, along with a loaded 9mm handgun.

Tyrique Linder was processed at the Utica Police Department and charged with the following:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree

JUNE 4th UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The Utica Police Department is asking the public for assistance with identifying the suspect in an on-going shooting investigation.

On June 4th, 2021 a shooting occurred on Arthur Street in Utica, in the vicinity of Neilson Street. The victim was transported to Syracuse Hospital for emergency treatment for their injuries, but the suspect is still at large.

Investigators are asking anyone that may know the man in the photo or who may have information about the shooting incident to contact the Utica Police Departments Major Crime Unit at 315-223-3556.
