Two local murder cases set for trial

ONEIDA COUNTY, NY (WUTR-TV) — On Friday morning, two local murder cases were set for trial.

Jason D’Avolio, the Rome man accused of killing his wife, Kerrilee D’Avolio and throwing her body in a dumpster. His case heads to a jury trial March 16th. D’Avolio is charged with second degree murder and concealment of human corpse. During the incident, the couple were in the early stages of a divorce . Defense claims his 32-year-old wife whose remains were found in a landfill, committed suicide.

Also appearing in court this morning — Malik Clea, from York, South Carolina. Clea is accused of killing 34-year-old Willie Jefferson of Utica, inside his home on Lenox Ave last June. This morning, Clea rejected a plea bargain from the district attorney’s office – which was 18 years behind bars with 5 years post release supervision. his case now heads to trial starting Monday, Feb. 24. Clea is charged with second degree murder, burglary, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm.
