One Car Fleeing State Police

Two people were airlifted to hospitals Thursday night following a two car crash at the intersection of East Steele Street and South Washington Street in Herkimer. The driver of one of the vehicles was evading a State Trooper following a traffic stop.

Dakota Mander, 26 years old from Utica, was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima and reportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and struck a Jeep driven by Felicia Mosher, 63 years old of Little Falls. Both Mander and Mosher were airlifted by helicopter from a landing zone set up at the former K Mart parking lot in Herkimer. Mander was taken to Albany Medical Center and Mosher was taken to the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Neither had sustained life-threatening injuries.

New York State Police report that a Trooper had pulled over the Nissan Altima on West Smith Street in the village. As the Trooper approached the car, it sped away. The investigation continues and charges against Mander are pending.
