TRAVEL ALERT in Remsen: Signal light being replaced on NYS Route 920V/Prospect Street

REMSEN, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office in coordination with the Village of Remsen has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in the Village of Remsen, Oneida County:

From Tuesday, September 7 thru Friday, September 17, 2021, Prospect Street will be closed to thru traffic between Old State Route 12 and Maple Avenue for the replacement of MA&N Lyons Falls Branch at-grade railroad crossing. The temporary road closure is necessary for the contractor to safely complete the installation of new automatic flashing lights, gate system, and a new concrete crossing surface at this location.

A signed detour will be used for the duration of the project. A variable message sign has been installed notify motorists of the road closure and directing them to the appropriate detour routes.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
