UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in Herkimer County:
On Wednesday, July 14, 2021 between the hours of 9:00AM and 2:00PM, NYS Route 28/Mohawk Street will be closed to traffic between the Herkimer Thruway entrance (Exit 30) and Fifth Ave in the Village of Herkimer, Herkimer County. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the Village of Herkimer will be conducting a training exercise to erect a flood wall located under the New York State Thruway Bridge.
Signed detours will be utilized to inform motorists of the road closure and direct traffic to the appropriate detour route.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
