TRAVEL ADVISORY: Culvert replacement project to begin in Town of Norway

TOWN OF NORWAY, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in the Town of Norway, Herkimer County:

On Thursday, July 29, 2021 starting at 9:00AM the Route 8 culvert over Unnamed Creek will be temporarily closed due to construction. The closure is necessary for the replacement of the culvert. Motorist will encounter a detour utilizing NYS Routes 365 and 12. The culvert is scheduled to reopen by Friday, August 13, 2021. 

During construction, variable message signs and detour signs will notify motorists of the road closure and direct them to the detour.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
