UPDATE (June 2, 2023) — According to West Winfield mayor Sandra Smith, the boil water advisory for the village has been lifted, as all water testing in the area has been completed.

WEST WINFIELD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Boil water and travel advisories have been made in the village of West Winfield due to road work along Route 67 in Herkimer County.

On Tuesday, May 30, Herkimer County Route 67 on North Street between Stone Road and Route 20 in the village will close to local traffic between Tuesday, May 30 and Thursday, June 1. The closing is for repairs and repaving to the road. Motorists are urged to plan for alternate routes for those three days.

Also on Tuesday, May 30, the village will shut off water service to West Main Street and Taylor Avenue for several hours. This is to allow work to be completed on the water system and connecting services, as well as the installation of some new pipes. According to the village, water service is estimated to be restored by approximately noon on Tuesday.

Because of the new pipes being installed, the village has also issued a Boil Water Advisory that will be in effect for approximately two to three days while water testing is completed. Residents are advised to boil their drinking water or any cooking water until the advisory is lifted. Residents will be notified as soon as the advisory is lifted.
