As many children are heading back to school this week, oneorganization is prepping some students for the new school year.
The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area collectedand distributed nearly 500 pounds of school supplies thanks to their 2nd AnnualBack-to-School Drive.
Ten area agencies and programs received these supplies andwill be giving them away to help alleviate the financial burden for families.
“You’re wondering who is in your class and you’re notsure how it’s going to go. And there is a lot of things kids worry about whenschool starts. The last thing I want them to worry about is do I have penspaper and crayons. So when we make sure they have the supplies they need, theystart off with confidence,” said Brenda Episcopo, Executive Director of theUnited Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area.
Catholic Charities in Oneida and Herkimer Counties have setup distribution sites.
