SUNY Oneonta President Resigns

School Hasn’t Yet Committed To Bringing Students Back

SUNY Oneonta President Dr. Barbara Jean Morris has resigned her position at the school. SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras made the announcement in Oneonta Thursday afternoon. “Her resignation was of her own volition.”, Malatras said.

Dennis Craig, President of SUNY Purchase, will replace Morris as acting president at SUNY Oneonta.

Dr. Morris became president at SUNY Oneonta in July, 2018. In September of this year, the students were sent home from the college after an outbreak of COVID-19 at the school resulting in more than 500 positive test results. Chancellor Malatras told the press that he didn’t want to reflect on the way Dr. Morris handled the outbreak.

Malatras also said that the school hadn’t yet committed to bringing students back on campus.
