The New York State Department of Education took a trip to the Utica Public Library to kick-off its 2019 Summer Reading Program.
The program is built around different activities in the participating libraries, including technologies, and conversations aimed at helping students avoid what the Education Department calls the Summer Slide.
This years theme is based on the Universe of Stories. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the wonders of outer space.
1100 libraries across New York will participate in this years program.
