WESTMORELAND, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – State Police in Marcy assisted the Thruway patrol in arresting a Kansas man on weapons charges on Monday, March 27.

Thruway police stopped 21-year-old Jose Ayala-Rivera, of Derby, Kansas, for speeding near Exit 32 in Westmoreland. When the local troop in Marcy was called in for an investigation, it was found that Ayala-Rivera was carrying a loaded nine-millimeter handgun in his car.

Ayala-Rivera was arrested and is currently being held at the Oneida County Jail, where he awaits arraignment. He is being charged with second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a felony.
