UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority in Utica is looking to get everyone in the spirit of Earth Day by holding a recycling event.
The Authority will be holding its annual Earth Day Recycling Event at the Oneida-Herkimer Recycling Center on Saturday, April 22 from 10 am to 2 pm. The Authority’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be open, and will be accepting items such as paints, chemicals and pesticides.
Other events during the Recycling Event include a confidential paper shredding by ConfiData, based out of Utica, as well as an unused Medication collection by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Guided tours of the recycling center will be given as well, and the Utica ZooMobile will be there with a close-up look at some of the Zoo’s animals.
The Authority is also hosting a rain barrel and compost bin sale. Orders are only accepted online and must be picked up during the event. The compost bins are $59.95, while the rain barrel is $69.95 and will help Oneida County in Operation Ripple Effect.
