Shooting in Utica Leads to Car Collision

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — Around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 14th, Utica Police responded to a vehicle accident with a truck and a sedan at the intersection of St Anthony Street and Bleecker Street. The crash hit a nearby telephone pole and fire hydrant, knocking them both out of the ground.

“With the telephone pole being taken out there was some loss of power to the intersection with respect to the lights and the traffic signals but power to the houses in general was not affected.” – Sgt. Michael Curley, Utica Police Department

After police arrived, they learned that shooting took place right before the accident on the 500 block of St Anthony Street. A suspect fired at the sedan, then the victim drove towards Bleecker Street and collided with the truck at the intersection.

“Following the accident, at least 3 parties fled from that vehicle onto the 300 block of Tilden Ave where they were ultimately located. We learned that those three parties were victims in the shooting investigation, one of which was struck in the arm with non life threatening injuries. He was transported to St Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment and the investigation is continuing.” – Sgt. Michael Curley, Utica Police Department

There were 2 other occupants in the car, both were unharmed. All three victims were young males in their 20’s. Utica Police are speaking with neighbors, the victims and looking at nearby surveillance videos to locate the suspect.
