Serious motorcycle accident


Accident closes northbound Arterial lanes in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — One male victim was airlifted to a hospital. Both the New Hartford Police Department and the New Hartford Fire Department on scene.

The driver of a motorcycle was critically injured in a single vehicle motorcycle accident in New Hartford on State Route 5 when he lost control of his motorcycle Tuesday afternoon.

According to Police, at about 2:52 p.m., New Hartford Police were called to a personal injury accident on Rt. 5 near Wilbur Rd. Upon arriving on scene officers learned that Andrew Maxam, 22, of Clinton had lost control of his motorcycle while driving north on Rt. 5 causing him to strike the center guide rail. Maxam was ejected from the motorcycle. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.

Maxam was treated at the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department and Edwards Ambulance personnel. Maxam was transported to SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse by Mercy Flight helicopter. He is reported to be in critical condition.
