UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Want to do something meaningful this holiday season? The Utica Salvation Army Volunteer Program is now calling for participants.
The Salvation Army Core Office in Utica New York is a nonprofit organization that assists local residents with funding through kettle donations, individual donors, and corporate contributions.
Now it is calling out community members to offer a hand for its Thanksgiving dinner party.
“So next Wednesday, November 23rd we are having a community Thanksgiving dinner. We’d like to have it the day before with so many community services that we have that we are able to enjoy a time of fellowship and fun with our neighbors. We will have it from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm is our service hours. And we are looking for volunteers to help serve, to help prepare for food, to help clean.”
Besides, during the next couple of weeks, the Salvation Army will kick off its annual Red Kettle fundraisers and Christmas assistance programs. The Salvation Army said that this program aims at providing families and individuals with food, clothing, and presents for this holiday season.
Established in 1865, the Salvation Army has centers across the US and serves people in need through donations. The Army expects this Thanksgiving to be a revival of creating good memories.
“So November 23rd will be the first time that we have our community Thanksgiving dinner since coming out of the covid pandemic. So we are hopeful that we will serve about a hundred meals. Just have a lot of fun games and giveaways. Just have a lot of laughs and make some memories.”
