Ruptured gas line near Wampsville closes part of Route 5

WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — The portion of Route 5 that was closed due to a ruptured gas line has now been re-opened.


WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — A portion of Route 5 between Wampsville, NY and Canastota, NY is closed at this time.  Both lanes are closed to traffic between N. Court St. and Churchill Ln. due to a natural gas line rupture. 

Residents in the area are being asked to shelter in place and natural gas service may be interrupted in the area.

There are no additional details at this time or an estimated time of when the road will be reopened. 

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is on scene with National Grid, Wampsville Fire Department, and the New York State Police.
