Rome woman charged with possession of over $2,500 worth of narcotics


ROME, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – The Rome Police Department is reporting that a woman has been arrested for the possession of over $2,500.00 worth of Cocaine.

Around 5:30pm on Wednesday, September 8th, an Officer of the RPD responded to South George Street in Rome after receiving reports of a woman who had been harassed at the FasTrac on Erie Boulevard West. During the interview process, complainant Alicia M. Pugliese was explaining to the Officer what had happened when a plastic baggie that appeared to contain a “white chunky substance” fell onto the sidewalk behind her.

Pugliese, hoping this was not noticed by the Officer, continued to explain the harassment complaint while picking up the baggie and putting it into her back pocket. Luckily the Officer recognized the substance to be an illegal substance and took Pugliese into custody at the scene.

Alicia M. Pugliese was then transported to the Rome Police Station for further investigation while the substance was tested by the Special Investigations Unit. After testing positive for the presence of Cocaine she was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class B Felony)

The amount Cocaine in her possession weighed 37.1 grams and had a total street value of $2,580.00.
