Rome Man Arrested for Shoplifting at BOSCOVS in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-T.V.)– On Thursday January 21st, 2021, at about 2:07 pm, New Hartford Police responded to the parking lot of Boscovs at the Sangertown Square Mall for a report of a male who had just stolen from Boscovs and was being followed by Loss Prevention.

Upon arrival officers located the Loss Prevention employee and the suspect across the street from Boscovs behind the Price Chopper plaza on Commercial Dr.

The suspect was immediately apprehended by police without incident. During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect, Kyle Moroughan, age 32, had a physical confrontation with Loss Prevention while stealing property from Boscovs.

Moroughan was charged with the following:

  • Robbery in the 3rd Degree, a class D felony.

Through investigation, it was also verified that Moroughan was on New York State Parole. Moroughan was processed and arraigned at Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Oneida County Jail on no bail.
