MARGARETVILLE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV)— Around 9:38am. on Thursday, January 7th, 2021, SP Margaretville Trooper Mitchell Reed responded to a very critical call; acting quickly to save a man’s life.
An unfortunate man working for a tree removal service was at a resident’s home on Dry Brook Road in Margaretville when he got his leg caught in a woodchipper. Trooper Reed arrived on the scene to find two other people attempting to stop the severe bleeding from the man’s leg with a belt. Luckily, Trooper Reed was equipped with a division issued tourniquet and was able to slow the bleeding.
Emergency medical services arrived and quickly transported the man to Margaretville Hospital. He was then later transferred to Albany Medical for treatment. Although doctors say the man will have a long recovery, he is expected to recover from his injuries.
