UPDATE: January 20th, 2021 INLET, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-T.V.)– Town of Inlet Police and the New York State Region 5 Forest Ranger Division has made an arrest.
Jordan M. Schurko 21-years old of Gardiner, N.Y. was traveling North on Uncas Road unaware there were emergency vehicles in the area. When he noticed that he was approaching emergency vehicles, he made a U-turn in an attempt to evade the police. Forest Rangers were able to momentarily stop the snowmobile and attempted an arrest, but Schurko again sped away before he could be put into custody. A brief pursuit by police then occurred into the Hamlet of Eagle Bay.
Schurko was arrested and charged with the following:
- Unlawful Fleeing of Police Officer in the Third Degree
- Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree
- Resisting Arrest
- Harassment in the Second Degree
- Reckless Operation
- Failure to stop for an emergency vehicle
January 19th, 2021 INLET, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-T.V.)–Town of Inlet Police and New York State Forest Rangers are asking for the public’s help in locating a snowmobiler who may have been involved in the assault of a Forest Ranger on Saturday, January 16th in Inlet.
Inlet Police Chief R.W. Johnston says that the rider was stopped on the Uncas Road near the Bug Lake trail in Inlet on Saturday. There was a struggle between the rider and the Ranger before the rider fled. The snowmobiler was riding the machine pictured below. He is described as a white male in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt. The Ski-Doo snowmobile he was riding has a unique mirror-like wrap on the sled with a multicolor pink tint.
