Police Investigating Suspicious Package At Social Security Office

There is a report of a suspicious envelope having been received at the Social Security office in Utica. Utica Police and Fire Department have been called to the Alexander Pirnie Office Building on Broad Street. The FBI is heading up the investigation into the incident. It is reported that some employees may have been exposed to an unknown substance in the envelope and are going through a decontamination process. Utica Fire HazMat vehicles are on the scene.

***UPDATE: At approximately 10:15am, the Utica Police Department was dispatched to the Social Security Office in Utica for suspicious activity. Police were informed that there was a letter delivered to the office that contained a powdered substance. Two employees were decontaminated and treated for possible exposure to the substance. No injuries have been reported. The investigation was handed over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
