DOLGEVILLE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — Dolgeville Police were called to the scene of an incident in the village on the afternoon of Thursday, October 11.
Police were called to the area of Oak and Elm Streets in the village at approximately 2:00 pm on Thursday. Upon arrival, they were advised of a male having a mental health crisis and in possible possession of a handgun.
Police say that the scene was secured to protect public safety and at no time was there any harm to any members of the community. The incident came to a conclusion at approximately 6:30 pm and the scene was cleared shortly thereafter, according to a statement by Dolgeville Chief of Police Matthew Wright.
The Dolgeville Police Department was assisted on the scene by New York State Police, Herkimer and Little Falls Police Departments and the New York State Forest Rangers’ Office.
According to Wright, the investigation is open and ongoing and no further details will be released. Upon conclusion of the investigation, further details may become available.
