EDMESTON, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Otsego County Sheriffs arrested an Edmeston man on Saturday, March 18 after a combined investigation with the Department of Homeland Security.

Police arrested 48-year-old Charles Bodie of Edmeston after it was found out Bodie entered a sexual relationship with a minor, engaging in acts with the victim over several months. It was also revealed that Bodie had sent inappropriate material the minor while working outside of New York State, which necessitated the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security.

Police then collaborated with New York State Police to locate Bodie when he returned to New York, where he was subsequently arrested.

Bodie was transferred to the Otsego County Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held and is awaiting arraignment. He is currently being charged with the following crimes:

  • Second-degree Rape,
  • Second-degree Criminal Sexual Act,
  • First-degree Dissemination of Indecent Material to Minors,
  • First-degree Obscenity, all felonies, and
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor.

The Sheriff’s Office expects that additional charges are forthcoming.
