Otsego County Receives 700 COVID Vaccines

OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — Otsego County received 700 doses of the vaccine, that’s 200 more than what Oneida County was given. Like many counties throughout the state, they too have had their issues with vaccine distribution. As their number of positive COVID cases continue to rise, more doses are needed to supply the community. Heidi Bond, the county’s public health director says right now they’ve been restricted in who they can vaccinate in the 1b group.

“This week we just found out yesterday that we can only vaccinate the essential worker group in 1b, where we can’t vaccinate people over 65. So that’s caused a lot of confusion and frustration for people.” – Heidi Bond, BSN, CCP, Public Health Director, Otsego County.

Bond says this decision was made by the state and can’t say when they’ll be able to vaccinate those 65 and older again. As of today they have 37 new positives. 272 cases are active, 18 patients are hospitalized and 19 people have passed away.
