One area man has started a non-profit organization to helpcreate job opportunities for the disadvantaged.

It’s being called the “Economic Opportunities for DistressedCommunities Project,” helping areas that suffer from severe unemploymentand underemployment.

The mission is to maximize benefits of equal opportunity onpublic works projects in the construction industry.

“It’s important to have an organization that has beenable to identify the critical needs.  Tobring the disadvantaged that includes veterans, minorities into the workingtrade where they can work and earn a good wage at the same time accomplish thetype of training that is necessary for the employer,” said James Kernan.
