CITY OF ONEONTA N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — The Oneonta City Manager, George Korthauer, has submitted his resignation to be effective Feb. 7. 2020.
Korthauer was hired in Aug. 2017 as City Manager. He previously served as the City Manager of the lake resort city of Petoskey, M.I. for 25 years. Korthauer says, “Considering the expiration of my contract in August, my leaving now will permit the Common Council, with its many new members, to appoint a City Manager of their choosing early-on. It is an honor to have served as City Manager in Oneonta and to have worked for and with great people who are talented, conscientious, and dedicated to this community and its municipal government.”
Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig states, “George came to Oneonta with a wealth of knowledge regarding municipal equipment from which our city operations have benefited. I wish George and his wife Brenda much future success.” Mayor Herzig states that he “will be working with our Common Council Members through this time of transition. We have a very dedicated and talented team of Department Heads and staff. I am certain that they will function at the highest level in providing service to the people of our city during this time of transition.”
