Oneonta Businesses Take Hit During Summer


The City of Oneonta increases in population by 7700 students from both SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College during the school year. Those students from local colleges play a large roll in the year round business for the city. When the students aren’t around, some shop owners say their clientel drops upwards of 70%. The schools aren’t the only large source of foot traffic in the City of Oneonta, the Baseball Hall Of Fame also helps to boost the economy during Hall Of Fame induction ceremony weekends. The slowest time of year for Oneonta? July and August.
