Oneida County to buy, demolish Utica building

Plan is for parking and green space along Main Street

UTICA–Oneida County legislators authorized the purchase of 417-421 Main Street during their September board meeting.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says the plan is to demolish the building for parking and green space.

Picente said the move would support the county public market, and a potential parking influx with the redevelopment of neighboring Union Station’s REA wing.

The approved legislative resolution indicates the owner of the building has agreed to sell for $30,000.
