Oneida County Democrat Election Commissioner Carolann Cardone has submitted her resignation to the Oneida County Board of Legislators. The Board of Legislators Clerk, Mike Billard, confirmed the resignation to Eyewitness News Tuesday. The status of Oneida County’s Republican Election Commissioner, Rose Marie Grimaldi, has not been solidified.
Last week, John Conklin, Director of Public Information for the New York State Board of Elections, told Eyewitness News that Cardone and Grimaldi would be given until Tuesday to submit their resignations or the state board would recommend to the Governor that the Oneida County Commissioners be removed. The county Elections Commissioners are accountable to the Board of Legislators.
The status of the two commissioners came under the question when procedural issues came to light with New York’s 22nd Congressional Election.
