Kitchen Fire Not Related to Ongoing Structural Issues

UTICA–A late morning fire at the Olbiston apartment building on Genesee Street stopped area traffic for around one hour.

Utica Fire Department Chief Scott Ingersoll says crews responded after a kitchen fire was reported around 11:28 a.m., after a second-floor alarm was tripped.

Ingersoll says maintenance staff used a fire extinguisher before fire officials helped to fully extinguish the fire.

The fire is not related to ongoing structural issues inside the building, and no injuries were reported.
