The New York State Thruway will return to the use of toll tickets and will take cash beginning at 11:59PM, Wednesday, June 3rd. The suspension of Thruway toll cash transactions will end at that time.
The New York State Thruway Authority says that there will be enhanced safety precautions instituted with the return of the cash transactions. Drivers will find plexiglass in place between the motorists and toll collectors. Authorities advise drivers to expect some delays in the early days of the return to cash and toll tickets.
Drivers without E-ZPass, who used the Thruway March 22 and May 31 at 8:59 p.m. will receive one toll bill which includes all accumulated tolls and no additional fees. Toll bills will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle at the address on file with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Customers can pay with a credit card through the Thruway Authority’s website or by mail.
These changes do not effect E-ZPass drivers.
