NYS Criminal Justice Reform

One District Attorney Addresses Reform Concerns

UTICA–New criminal justice reform bills signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo in April 2019 drastically changed the state’s laws regarding bail.

New York State Assembly Republicans are now speaking out. They voiced their concerns surrounding the part of the reform that eliminates cahs bail for many non-violent crimes and the changes made to the pre-trial discovery process to give Defense Attorney’s more time to consider evidence.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara has also expressed similar concerns regarding the changes in the state’s policy.
