State lawmakers adjourned for the year in Albany shortly before 11:30 Wednesday night without passing the tax relief bill that Vernon Downs owner Jeff Gural wanted.
The measure cleared the State Senate, but it did not clear the Assembly. Gural has said publicly more than once that if the Assembly were to adjourn for the year tonight without passing the tax relief bill, he would close the racino property later this year.
The legislature also did not approve the sales tax extension for every county in the state that it’s required to consider every other year.
As Eyewitness News Albany correspondent Nick Perreault said on Twitter tonight: “Question now is will lawmakers come back before next session in January and if so, when?”
We’ll have more Thursday night on Eyewitness News.
