New York State Police enforces traffic initiative for Thanksgiving weekend

Every Thanksgiving weekend the New York State Police enforces a special traffic initiative to cut down on the amount of dangerous drivers. This year they’re dedicating their efforts in memory of Connor Lynskey, an 18-year-old college student who was hit and killed by a drunk driver in 2018.

“The State Police are not against you having a good time, going out there and celebrating the holiday season with family and friends. But, if drinking is part of that have a plan. Either have a designated driver, call an Uber, call a taxi. Just have a plan before you go out.” – Major Philip Rougeux, Troop D Commander, New York State Police.

The traffic initiative is from Wednesday November 27th until Sunday December 1st.
