News

UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR-TV)– The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office in coordination with City of Utica has issued the following traveler advisory for motorists in the Town of New Hartford and the City of Utica, Oneida County:

On Thursday, April 15, 2021 motorists traveling on Route 8 Bridge over Routes 5/12 will encounter a new traffic pattern due to the implementation of phase 1 bridge construction. Traffic on Route 8 will be placed in one lane northbound and one lane southbound. The new traffic pattern is scheduled to remain in place through mid-August.

Variable message signs (V.M.S.) have been in operation notifying local motorists of the new traffic pattern due to bridge construction.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
